VIETNAM ACCELERATES THE DEVELOPMENT OF ITS DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY INDUSTRY

Vietnam’s digital technology industry continues to record strong growth, highlighting the country’s accelerating digital transformation and increasing demand for technology infrastructure.

According to Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology, digital technology industry revenue in August 2026 was estimated at VND 680.6 trillion, up 36% year-on-year. Meanwhile, exports of digital technology products and goods reached approximately USD 22.4 billion, representing a 41% increase compared with the same period in 2025.

The country is also making progress in digital infrastructure. By mid-August, the national data integration and sharing platform (NDXP) had recorded 4.7 billion transactions, with all 63 provinces and centrally governed cities connected for data sharing. Vietnam’s IPv6 adoption rate reached 66%, ranking second in Southeast Asia and seventh globally.

Looking ahead, the Ministry of Science and Technology is prioritising the development of strategic technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), digital infrastructure, semiconductor industry and national digital platforms. Investment in telecommunications infrastructure in underserved areas is also being promoted to expand connectivity nationwide.

These developments underscore Vietnam’s growing digital technology ecosystem and its ambition to strengthen domestic technology capabilities, expand digital infrastructure and enhance its position in the global technology value chain.
